Children’s feet grow and change rapidly, and many concerns that worry parents — such as flat feet, in-toeing or toe walking — are entirely normal stages of development. However, when foot or gait issues are causing pain, affecting a child’s activity levels, or persisting beyond the expected age, a podiatry assessment is well worth seeking.
Paediatric podiatry covers a wide range of conditions including flat feet (pes planus), gait abnormalities, Sever’s disease (heel pain common in active children aged 8–14), toe walking, verrucae and general foot pain. A good paediatric podiatrist will be experienced in communicating clearly with children as well as parents, making appointments reassuring and straightforward.
All practitioners listed in this category see children and young people. Some also offer evening or Saturday appointments to fit around school. Search by postcode to find a children’s foot care specialist near you.
